Connect Rightkey to Claude
Ask Claude about your repertoire, revisit your practice notes, or log a session after putting your instrument away. The Rightkey connector brings your practice history into the conversation.
The connector is for everyone with a Rightkey account.
What you can do
Claude can look up your pieces and books, read completed sessions with their notes and performance ratings, and show practice statistics. With your permission, it can also add a piece or log a completed session, including notes and a rating.
The connector accesses your own account. Its piece list matches My Pieces; the web app's All Pieces catalogue also includes other musicians' pieces. Use the Rightkey app for timers, sheet uploads, and editing or deleting entries.
Connect your account
- In Claude.ai, open Customize → Connectors, choose + Add, then Add custom connector. For a Team or Enterprise account, your organization may need to add the connector first.
- Name it Rightkey and enter
https://mcp.rightkey.app/mcpas the server URL. - Choose the sign-in option. If Claude asks how to identify itself, choose Register automatically. Finish adding the connector and choose Connect if prompted.
- On the Rightkey sign-in page, enter your Rightkey username and password. Review the app name and the destination shown on the consent screen.
- Choose whether to allow Log practice and add pieces, then approve the connection. You will return to Claude.
- In a conversation, open + → Connectors and enable Rightkey.
For changes to Claude's menus, see Claude's custom connector instructions.
Choose your permissions
Every connection can read your pieces, books, practice history, and statistics, including session notes and ratings. That information is shared with Claude when you ask it to use Rightkey. Enter your password only on the Rightkey sign-in page.
Leave Log practice and add pieces unchecked for read-only access. When checked, Claude can also save new pieces and completed sessions to your account. To change this choice later, revoke the connection and connect again.
Try a conversation
- “List my Rightkey pieces, including their IDs.”
- “Show my recent sessions for Clair de Lune, including each rating and the full notes.”
- “How much did I practice this week?”
With write permission, try: “Log 20 minutes on Clair de Lune, ending now, rated 7.5 out of 10. Add the note: Worked slowly on the left-hand pattern.”
Ask Claude to find the piece first if the title could match more than one entry. Review the piece and duration before approving a write. You can check the saved session in Rightkey's practice history.
Disconnect whenever you choose
Open Account Settings → Connected Apps in Rightkey, find the connection, and choose Revoke. Manage your connected apps. Its next request to Rightkey will be denied. Your saved pieces and sessions stay in your account.
You can also remove Rightkey from Claude's connector settings. Revoking access does not remove information already included in your Claude conversations.
